Invoicify

AccountingToday's
Top AR Tool of 2021

Overview

Accounting and professional services firms face a fundamental practice challenge: billing is managed using dated, disconnected software.  This often forces high-value professionals to waste time with tedious admin tasks that lead to lost or delayed revenue, reduced productivity, and frustrated clients. Invoicify was founded to help firms modernize their billing to speed up cash flow using AI powered “Intelligence-Based Billing.”

Invoicify's CEO, previously co-founded and led Digitize.ai through an acquisition by Waystar (backed by ET Ventures & Bain Capital) in 2019. We kicked off working with Invoicify in the midst of the 2020 pandemic.  We kicked off with the founding team with a Strategize Design Workshop to deep dive into the company vision and problems Invoicify was aiming to solve.

Understanding Customer Pain Points

Invoicify setup Zoom meetings with prospective customers (mostly CPAs) who shared with us first-hand the processes and pain points of their existing software.

The feedback gave us a glimpse of prospects day to day jobs and the frustrations faced with existing software.  They were mired in work that the software should have been doing for them.  Insights from these conversations gave us confidence we were designing a solution that addressed a market need and real customer problems, driving many of our design decisions moving forward.

“It sometimes takes me an hour to simply understand what invoice I should focus on next.”
“A significant percentage of invoices go uncollected because of the complexities in tracking down payments.”
“We’re focused on benchmarks for future months.  Frankly billing for past work tends to be low a low priority.”
“I want a list of high priority actions I need to take so I don’t even have to think about them.”

Designing the Platform

We designed the Invoicify platform from scratch, following our Visualize process. The platform included an invoicing module powered by AI insights and automation and a customer-facing payments module.

Mobile Payments

We designed the Invoicify platform via our Visualize process. The platform included an invoicing module powered by AI insights and automation and a customer-facing payments module.

Systemizing Design

To help Invoicify developers build the platform as quickly as possible, we created a design system made up of styles, form fields, buttons, and components originally in Figma then developed in the browser.  This helped to produce 100% of the fidelity of our designs from translation from pixels to code.
